“The spiritual life does not remove us from the world, but leads us deeper into it.”
-Henri J M Nouwen
In part one of “Why our thoughts matter” I covered how our thoughts can affect our physical bodies. In this part I’ll cover the science of this subject.
If some of this information is a bit hard to swallow, just remember that it’s all proven by science. We evolved to deal with life at the macroscopic level, not at the quantum level. As scientists delve into quantum science, they are becoming more aware of how quantum physics and spirituality go hand in hand. Consciousness is all there is. Consciousness vibrating at different frequencies cause potentialities to become thoughts, emotions, matter; everything. Matter is consciousness vibrating at such a slow rate that it becomes condensed. Dense energy = solid matter.
Max Planck, Nobel Prize winner, originator of Quantum Mechanics, and close associate of Albert Einstein explains it well:
“As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clearheaded science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of the existence of consciousness. The mind is the matrix of all matter. I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness.”
Now let’s look at the science.
Double slit experiment
Without going into how the experiment is carried out, it demonstrates that light and matter display characteristics of both waves and particles, and shows the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanical phenomena. Probabilistic nature. Remember how infinite potential becomes the actualities of reality? The probability factor of the uncertainty principle, and energetic waves of potential becoming reality? This is how our thoughts become reality. Our thoughts matter.
Morphic Fields
Now let’s look at Morphic Fields. Morphic fields bring about non-local effects in consciousness and learning. Say what?
Some of you may have heard of the Hundredth Monkey Effect, the phenomenon in which a new idea can spread unexplainably from one group to all related groups, regardless of distance, once enough of the first group picks up that idea. For example; monkeys on one island learning the use of a new tool, that then spreads to the same type of monkey on a nearby island. This is made possible by morphic fields. Rupert Sheldrake, researcher in the field of parapsychology, who proposed the concept of morphic resonance explains these fields:
“Natural systems, or morphic units, at all levels of complexity – atoms, molecules, crystals, cell tissues, organs, organisms, and societies of organisms – are animated, organized, and coordinated by morphic fields, which contain an inherent memory. Natural systems inherit this collective memory from all previous things of their kind by a process called morphic resonance, with the result that patterns of development and behavior become increasingly habitual through repetition. There is a continuous spectrum of morphic fields, including morphogenetic fields, behavioral fields, mental fields, and social and cultural fields.”
These morphic fields act like energy templates to establish forms. For example, When Rojer Bannister broke the four minute mile barrier, this created a new morphic field. Before this, the four + minute mile was the limit. Many runners were suddenly able to run sub four-minute mile races after the new morphic field was created.
Science is still making more surprising discoveries in quantum physics. I think we’d be blown away if we knew now what they’ll know in ten years. Remember: Thoughts matter. Be careful.

May you always be

Safe and Comfortable
