The Sevenfold Path Of Peace

Quaerite Et Invenietis “Seek and you will find.”

The Essenes were a Jewish sect that flourished from the second century B.C. to the first century A.D. They recognized the spiritual nature of the physical universe and considered that Human life can be divided into seven departments, these being: physical, mental, emotional, social, cultural, its relationship with nature and its relationship with the entire cosmos. The Sevenfold Path of Peace is based on the ancient teachings of the Essenes and explains the utilization of these powers and forces.

Here are the seven aspects of contemplation for the Sevenfold Path of Peace:

Peace with the body

We recognize the body as our sacred vehicle, created by spiritual laws of the universe and that in the body are manifested all the laws of life. The Essenes learned the healthful foods, herbs, breathing techniques, etc. that were needed to have a physical body filled with vitality. This contemplation nurtures the power of love and acceptance for our physical expression. It is through our spiritual relationship with our bodies that the ability to heal is mastered.

Peace with the Mind

This contemplation, in regards to the Sevenfold Path of Peace, is thought of as a higher force – far more powerful than either feeling or action, because it is the creator of both. It is important to understand the power of the mind as a tool of manifestation. It is what empowers us to be co-creators with Spirit. It is through the use of the mind that we direct the flow of energy through the choices we make about our thoughts.

Peace with Emotions/Family

As a reflection of our love towards one another, this contemplation governs our relationships with those who are in our close environment and our spiritual families. Through this contemplation, we realize how our families are mirrors in learning more about our feeling physical bodies and ourselves. The Essenes knew that the feeling body is a most influential instrument for the creation of physical vitality, emotional freedom and spiritual happiness.

Peace with Community

A powerful step in the sevenfold path, this contemplation refers to harmony between groups of people. The Essenes teach that each of us journeys an exceptional path in helping human evolution, and it is only when we follow our own unique gifts that joy and peace will occur on the planet.

Peace with Wisdom of the Ancients/Culture

In this contemplation, we make use of the gifts of the masters of wisdom from the past. The Essenes believed there were three pathways to discovering truth. The path of intuition followed by mystics and prophets; the path of nature – the way of the scientist; and the path of culture – exposure to the great masterpieces of literature and the arts.

This contemplation opens the door to our spiritual ancestors and their spiritual truths. Essenes considered it the responsibility of all to learn from cultural wisdom passed down through the ages and pass teachings down to the next generation as a way of contributing to the evolution of humankind.

Peace with Earth Ecology/Environment

This contemplation nurtures how we live in harmony with the Earth and the physical field of existence. It is the knowledge and understanding that our health and wealth is dependent on how we cooperate with the physical planet. As we expand a loving relationship with the Earth, the planet nurtures our own spiritual beings.

Peace with Spirit/Devine/God

It is with this step of the Sevenfold Path of Peace that we experience one power and one presence in our lives and in the Universe. A doorway opens in our consciousness that accesses powerful, loving guidance and support from spiritual energies.

The Sevenfold Path of Peace is a way of evaluating ourselves and the way we present ourselves in our world. with every thought, feeling and action we are creating and contributing. The question is are we contributing to greater peace? Am I building up and growing as a spiritual being having a physical reality?

The Sevenfold Path of Peace offers us an opportunity to become aware, awake and conscious. To live in peace is to actively participate in creating Heaven on Earth.

Rosicrucian Reflections #1

“The truth is more complex than it seems and a good heart has more impact than anyone with a thousand words or actions.”

-Robin Sacredfire

Rosicrucianism is a spiritual and cultural movement that started in Europe in the early 17th century. They study and practice the metaphysical laws governing the universe, some of their studies include: The mysteries of birth and death, the illusory nature of time and space, the creative power of visualization, the influence of thoughts on health, the development of intuition and much more.

I’d like to share some of their wisdom in a series titled ‘Rosicrucian Reflections’. I hope you enjoy and can use these gems of knowledge as they’ve been very helpful to me on my quest.

“The first step is to control and order our thinking. Too many of our failures yesterday were self-created by our own negative thinking. Sooner or later we are going to have to realize and accept that fact. The unhappy consequences of our own negative thinking are going to be presented in our lives repeatedly until we finally realize that we are punishing ourselves. Then we will begin to think positively always and our lives will begin to change. This is nature’s way of teaching. It is simply a matter of will to control our thinking. It is just as easy to think that we shall succeed as to think that we shall fail. It is no more difficult to think that we will feel better than to think that we shall decline and feel worse. We need simply to decide whether to expect happiness and good things today, or unhappiness and disappointing experiences. Remember, we create, whether we like it or not!”

“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies, were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star stuff.”

-Carl Sagan

From the book ’34 Spiritual Treatments’ by Ernest Holmes, use these treatments as prayer or affirmation:

“His Mind has determined my ways, and I walk them in harmony and love. The Devine cannot conceive confusion, and I shall have none this day. I let God’s Idea of me direct me. I use His law for good alone. I am certain of success, for I let Divinity operate as me. The Law of Mind is my refuge. I think into It what I want, and It brings to pass the desires of my heart. God wants me to have the good I seek. His whole Being is mine to distribute into form. I know this and glorify God through my right thinking. The Peace of God is mine. I let it infiltrate my whole subconscious and bring healing to me. I let go of my human will and accept the Good which God has for me. This Good is greater than I have ever visualized. I rejoice in Its wonder and use It with authority. My peace is established and no power can disturb it.”

Spiritual Treatments #5

Quaerite Et Invenietis – “Seek and you will find.”

“We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.”

-Oswald Chambers

I recently downloaded a book on my Kindle titled “34 Spiritual Treatments” by Ernest Holmes, a teacher, writer, and the spiritual leader of the New Thought Movement. These 34 treatments are like prayers or affirmations. I’d like to share them as I’ve found them to be very powerful. So once or twice a week I’ll post one of them.

“I believe that I am the son/daughter of God and heir to all the father hath. As I let my inner self see things in their entirety and in their right relation, I know that the spirit of life and power is back of all that is visible in this world. To the degree that I open myself to the Devine inflow, do I become like God. Today, I let my thinking be affirmative and constructive; I let my mental pictures be bright and full of good cheer. Today, I partake of the life of God and feel the essence of that Life expressing Itself in and through me. Today, I reject all limitation and disease, and act in accordance with my belief. I acknowledge the order and beauty of God’s creation and act in cooperation with all this beauty. What is true of God, is also true of me. I am never separated from the source of All-Good.”

Affirmation or Prayer?

Quaerite Et Invenietis – “Seek and you will find.”

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work. Prayer is the greater work.”

-Oswald Chambers

“I act as if I already have what I want – It’s an excellent way to attract happiness into my life.”

-Louise Hay

I called this post Affirmation or Prayer instead of Affirmation and Prayer because some of us may believe in one or the other depending on our beliefs. But really, no matter our beliefs, we can use them both, after all, they’re very close to the same thing, and both require absolute faith.

To me, using an affirmation is nothing more than me talking myself into believing something, whereas with prayer, I’m talking to God. But for affirmation or prayer to work, you must truly believe. With affirmation you must pay close attention to the words you use and let them truly sink in. With prayer and affirmation imagine your words as coming from your heart, not your brain. Let the words go not out into space somewhere, rather,  let them go straight to the place in you that God resides. And believe!

A lot of us have heard the parable of the mustard seed, where Jesus states: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

All you need is faith as small as a mustard seed. But, that mustard seed of faith has to be pure; it can’t have any impurities such as doubt. That small mustard seed must be pure faith. If faith is the dream builder, then doubt is the dream crusher. Believe, Believe, Believe!

Now, let’s look more closely at prayer and affirmation.

Prayer has been with us a while. It is found in written sources as early as five thousand years ago. The word prayer comes from Medieval Latin – Prearia, to “petition,” According to Wikipedia: “Prayer is an evocation or act that seeks to activate rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication.” Prayer can take a variety of forms such as hymn or incantation, it can be part of a liturgy or a ritual, performed alone or in groups. It can be used to make a humble request, to meditate or to pray for another. Prayer can also be used for purposes of thanksgiving and praise. You can think of prayer as the worlds greatest wireless connection. “Your prayer may be awkward and feeble, but the power of prayer is in the one who hears it.”

Here are three principles to use for more meaningful prayer: Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings. Express more heartfelt gratitude. and finally, Pray for others with real intent.

Remember about faith? Mark 11:24 says: ” Therefor I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Now let’s look at affirmation. Wikipedia has this to say about the subject: “Affirmations in new age terminology refer to the practice of positive thinking and self empowerment – fostering a belief that “A positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.”

In a nutshell, affirmations are a statement to be repeated to oneself, or written frequently, most effective if used in present tense. But, they must be positive and specific. So, they are the action of affirming. Affirm to state as a fact. Assert strongly.

To sum up – The point of prayer is not just to say the words, but to feel the meaning underlying the words. The same is true of affirmations. Whether we use affirmation or prayer, or both, just remember if you believe, you can move that mountain.

Spiritual Treatments #4

“We are Earth people on a spiritual journey to the stars. Our quest, our Earth walk, is to look within, to know who we are, to see that we are connected to all things, that there is no separation, only in the mind.”

-Lakota Seer

Use these treatments as prayers or affirmations. If used as prayer, feel the words as originating from your heart and going to the place inside you that God resides. If used as an affirmation, pay close attention to the words and truly believe what you are reading. If you don’t believe in God, substitute the word God for anything you choose.

“I am a center in God’s Being. It is the pulse of Life in all there is to me. I awaken in that Life now and express it. As a spiritual being through a human mentality in a physical body. In this world today as the person known by my name. My Faith is simple. My Thought is clear. I am creative. I feel not after what I outgrew as I accept this new state to “be” it. I am in no bondage to person, place or thing, neither are they in bondage to me. I grant freedom, hence I am free. I now claim a specific yet free-er self-expression of God’s Life through me: I now am better than well-off financially for I hoard nothing to deny its use. I stamp no human limits on money because my spending keeps the pulse-beat of God’s wealth alive in me. I have now definitely ceased once and for all, to question “how” “what” comes from “where”. The sun rises without my doing. Surely God provides without my assistance.”

“Today I am resolved to demonstrate only the good, the true and the beautiful. I turn my attention to my birthright, because I am a child of God. I lift my thoughts to better experiences, I lift my thought to prosperity, and perfect health. I refuse to speak today about my problems, I will speak only about my perfect health, my abundant supply, and my many other blessings. My word shall accomplish that which I please because it is not I, but the father within me who doeth the work. Today I lose myself in the one mind of God. Today I center my thought in his mind and my work flows directly from it. Everything I say today shall be spoken from that “Secret place of the most high.” Today I shall be successful in everything I do. For this, loving Father, I do give thee thanks.”
