Let your imagination have full sway. Build it up until it is filled daily and hourly with the pictures that the lessons of the past and the trials of today suggest to your consciousness. Then analyze these imaginary things, select the best, and take them into the laboratory of your creative powers. Let the divine consciousness flowing through you reconstruct them, radiate them, and bring them to pass in your life and in the lives of those around you, thus adding to the world the assets of the future and the beautiful things of human evolution.

Meditation

As the clear winter water

Nourishes the seed within the earth,

So the water of my new-found awareness

Of who I truly am.

This awareness

Has not yet fully matured,

And I rest content

In the arms of the unfolding universe,

Which will reveal all wisdom

In its time.

The Power of the unmanifest

Even now works within my spiritual heart,

And I am at peace.

 

The Blessing

Deeper in me than my beliefs

Lives the place

Of my Natural Knowing.

I will use this winter’s stillness

To strip away beliefs

That hide the still-small-voice

Of my inner knowing.

These meditations are excerpts from ‘Science of Mind’ by Ernest Holmes, published in 1926.

“These lessons are dedicated to that truth which frees man from himself and sets him on the pathway of a new experience, which enables him to see through the mist to the eternal and changeless reality.”

“Become quiet and composed. The body should be relaxed but the mentality should be active. Then, carefully read the  meditation several times, phrase by phrase, endeavoring to realize the meaning of the words and trying to enter into the atmosphere of thought. After having done this, meditate upon the words, following the meditation until you feel a sense of realization.”

The Wonders That Thought Reveals

Oh, for a tongue to express the wonders that the thought reveals! Oh, for some word to comprehend the boundless idea! Would that some voice were sweet enough to sound the harmony of life. But within, in that vast realm of thought where the soul meets God, the spirit knows. I will listen for that voice and it will tell me of life, of love and unity. Speak to me, spirit.

These treatments are from Ernest Holmes’ book ’34 Spiritual Treatments’. Use them as prayer or affirmation. If used as prayer, feel the words as originating from your heart and going to the place inside you that God resides. If used as affirmation, pay close attention to the words and truly believe what you are reading. If you don’t believe in God, substitute the word God for anything you choose, and tweak the words to make them work for you.

 

“I know that God Mind in me is all-knowing. Whatever I undertake it knows how to complete. The law of my life does not permit me to get into situations which I cannot handle. My actions are constructive, and I do everything necessary to insure the successful attainment of my goal. No negative thought has any power because I am positive in my mental acceptance of successful being. The spirit in me is dynamic, vital, and alive. My positive thinking opens every avenue for right action. My positive thinking draws to me a stream of fresh ideas that keep my mental outlook invigorating. Everything my thought touches is made constructive and good. I have no fear of negative thought regarding me or what I am doing, because God Mind is positive knowing. My knowledge that God Mind is all permits nothing of confusion nor fear. The forward momentum of my life permits no delay or stoppage. The continuous action of God-knowing creates my perfect world.”

“If the world were a global village of 100 people, one third of them would be rich or of moderate income, two thirds would be poor. Of the 100 residents, 47 would be unable to read, and only one would have a college education. About 35 would be suffering from hunger and malnutrition, at least half would be homeless or living in substandard housing. Of the 100 people, 6 of them would be Americans. These 6 would have over a third of the entire villages income, and the other 94 would subsist on the other two thirds. How could the wealthy 6 live in peace with their neighbors? Surely they would be driven to arm themselves against the other 94… perhaps even to spend, as Americans do, about twice as much per person on military defense as the total income of two thirds of the villagers.”

Meditation

The promise, the prophecy, is within me.

That which I have waited for is now present.

No longer need I fear.

Within me shines

The first glimmering of the Light,

And I am filled with the awareness

that the fulfilling of the prophecy

Is not a thing apart from me;

It is me.

As the first small rays of the sun

Return to my world,

I, too, return slowly to the world of form.

I humbly accept the mantle of that which I AM.

As I merge my light

With the light of all the beings of Light,

I surrender to my own divinity.

 

The Blessing

Life, you are a profound expression of Love.

The gentle, quiet expansion

Of the winter-mother’s love

Fills me with inner joy.
